Dr. Janine Murray was born and raised on O′ahu. She graduated from Moanalua High School (go menes!) and played the violin in the school orchestra. Dr. Murray is an alumnus of the University of Hawai′i at Mānoa, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. While at the UH, she spent a semester studying abroad at the University of Roehampton in London, England.
In 2020, during peak covid, Dr. Murray relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, to attend the New England College of Optometry (NECO). While there, she became active in several school clubs and was appointed as NECO’s Lion’s Club president. She graduated in 2024 with a Doctorate of Optometry. During her final year of school, she completed clinical externships in Charlottesville, Virginia; Vancouver, Washington; Bethel, Vermont; and Boston.
Dr. Murray joined the Sugiki-Portis-Yim Eye Center in the summer of 2024.
In her spare time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
